Spiritual Care Department
The Spiritual Care Department at St. James Mercy Health System offers services to meet the spiritual and emotional needs of patients and residents, clients, families, and staff. Chaplains work within the varied settings of the health system as part of the health care team.
The department strives to promote an atmosphere which is friendly to and supportive of the spiritual needs of all persons. A wealth of spiritual resources is available for times of uncertainty and change, as well as for times of thanksgiving and blessing.
Weekly Reflection Groups
Weekly reflection groups in varied settings offer residents, patients and clients an opportunity to explore and nurture spiritual growth.
Chapels and Prayer Room
The first floor prayer room and the second floor chapel at Mercycare are always open. At the hospital, patients and staff are welcome to use the chapel adjacent to the cafeteria during daytime hours or the prayer room next to ICU at any time.
McAuley Manor Worship Services
Regular worship services are conducted at McAuley Manor, while system-wide services and celebrations take place at special occasions throughout the year.
Monthly Grief Support Group
Each year, community members, staff, and residents are invited to memorial services. A Grief Support group meets monthly at the hospital and is open to anyone in need of ongoing support after a loss.
