Mercy Suite
In keeping with St. James Mercy Health System’s mission of continually improving our quality of care with emphasis on the whole person, we have enhanced the services we provide to our terminally ill patients and their families.
Mercy Suite adjoins patient and family room located on the 2WB nursing unit of St. James Mercy Hospital. This suite is available to patients and their families who have chosen to receive comfort care rather than curative treatment and who have a limited life expectancy. Patients who meet the guidelines or are enrolled in a Hospice Program are eligible. Hospice may request admission for respite care or symptom control.
Benefits
The rooms, with a homelike décor, offer additional privacy to the patient and family, and have extended visiting hours and overnight visits by family. Simple food and beverages are supplied. Family room is equipped with a refrigerator, toaster, microwave and coffeemaker. Food may be brought in. Sleeping and showering facilities are in room. A multidisciplinary team is available to care and to assist you through this difficult time.
Cost
Mercy Suite is a hospital room that is covered by the patient’s medical insurance or Hospice when certain criteria are met. There is no extra charge for the use of Mercy Suite. If there is no insurance or Hospice coverage, a financial representative will work with the patient on payment arrangements.
