  • Advanced Practice Provider (NP)/Mid-Level Provider Emergency Department
    Job Summary: The Advanced Practice Provider is a Nurse Practitioner (NP) that works in a collaborative relationship with a physician provider to oversee the care delivered to a patient population, and meet Hospital goals for safety and quality. The NP is responsible for direct patient care, documentation of care delivered, adherence to hospital and nursing policies, procedures and practice standards, education of patients and staff, assurance of service excellence, completion of state and hospital-required reviews of practice, and participation in performance improvement and other activities as required.
    Patient & Family Centered Care
    • Ability to formulate an individualized plan of care, revise plan as indicated by the patient’s response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness. Coordinates the nursing plan of care with the medical plan of care.
    • Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient’s age.
    • Demonstrates expertise in the care of acute care patients providing collaboration, direction and instruction to the medical services staff in the application and utilization of the nursing process.
    • Incorporates principles, evidenced-based practices and research that promote, maintain and restore the health of patients with specific healthcare issues across the life span.
    • Is a mentor to nursing staff regarding clinical, professional and research practices.

  • CT Technologists / Radiologic Technologists
    Job Summary: Performs CT Exams as requested by referring clinicians. Contributes to the efficient operation of the department. One must be familiar with CT and also be able to perform the job functions in x-ray. If they are not familiar with CT they must be willing to complete the requierd training while focusing on obtaining their CT certification in the future.

    Full Shift Expectations:
    149 shifts per year
    A shift is 24 hours per day 8am-8pm
    Hospitalist is required to be on-site from 8am–4pm. During the hours of 4pm-8am the hospitalist will be on-call and available to come on-site for emergencies with patients.
    • Operational Management
      Attend regular documented meetings (at least monthly) with SJMH providers to discuss systems/patient flow quality, improvement in scheduling, and patient and physician relationships.
    • Participate and regularly meet at least monthly with Medical Program Director and/or administration to review progress of hospitalist program.

  • Pharmacist
    Job Responsibilities: The Pharmacist must be clinically orientated with a BS in Pharmacy at a minimum and a valid NYS Pharmacy license and current registration. The pharmacist must be able to interpret lab values and interact well with other health care professionals in monitoring the patient’s drug therapy. Good communication skills and basic computer abilities are required.
    • Works within the limitations and requirements of State and Federal laws as well as SJMH policies and procedures.
    • Able to enter and verify medication orders using the appropriate formats and deals with any interaction or information flags that may occur.

    Job Summary: The ED at St. James Mercy Hospital serves as the "front door" of our institution with the majority of admissions coming through our ED. Physicians working in the clinical environment are expected to have a clear understanding of our role in patient care, as well as the requirements needed to care for patients in our environment.

    • Knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition.
    • Follows the six (6) medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.

    Job Qualifications:
    Education: Formal training in diagnostic Ultrasound technique is required. Previous training in Radiological Sciences is indeed helpful for anatomy and physiology, understanding of several disease processes, and what could be found in each, as well as normal sizes, etc., of structures.
    Responsibilities:
    • Performs all ultrasound examinations as requested by the referring physicians.
    • Selects proper technical factors on an individual patient basis.
    • Selects and operates equipment as directed.
    • Assists physician with invasive procedures (cyst punctures, needle biopsies, and amniocentesis) by preparing the room (set up the tray) and the patient and the using of the equipment.
    • Lifts, moves and transports patients via wheelchair or cart.
    • Maintains records of examination data and other pertinent information on patients.
    • Secures and returns supplies (film, linen, medicine, patient folders, etc.)
    • Consults with other to obtain a complete clinical history; gathers pertinent clinical data.
    • Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations.

    • Takes "call" as scheduled.
    • Supervises student technologists in the clinical area.
